The next version of Windows after Microsoft Vista will be Microsoft Windows 7. What does this mean to you and your business? Microsoft took all our suggestions on how to improve Vista and created Windows 7. Windows 7 is faster, more secure and stable, has improved remote/mobile access, has better hardware driver support and a user-friendly interface for networking computers together, just to name a few. Some of our fellow associates found it easy to install print drivers and liked the secure and efficient network file sharing capabilities.

I was doing research for my Infotech Niagara lunch ‘n learn and I kept seeing this statistic over and over….80% of IT projects fail.
Now I’ve been in IT for a long time and I gotta say that there’s no way 80% of the projects I’ve been on have failed. I don’t think any reputable computer firm would be in business long if their mantra was; “Lets make you one of the 20% that succeeds”. That’s not real encouraging.

I was on a quest. With two teenagers and a computer-savvy Kindergartener, my wife and I were finding more and more computers in the house. As a technology person, it bugged me that the computers weren’t all being backed up every night!! Heaven-forbid I would lose a single picture, video or music file!

I’ve witnessed it too often. I’ve seen its effects first-hand, and it’s not pretty.
I can tell it’s happened as soon as I pick up the phone. I hear the words “Greg, I think my computer died. Where did all my stuff go? Can you get it back?”
I cringe. I ask all the questions, only to find out that there is no backup. No CD’s, DVD’s, internal or external hard drives….nothing. I steel myself for the impending wailing and gnashing of teeth when I say that the data is…GONE.
